Ken is right.

David Stuart’s neo-conservative, dismissive approach to December 21, 2012’s significance for the ancient Maya stifles debate on the topic. It also leads to sloppy journalism: when all a reporter has to do is quote Stuart’s latest dismissal of other interpretations of the message in a set of glyphs, the reporter does not have to do further research -- and the story suffers from lack of objectivity.

Stuart needs to climb out of the ruins, get some fresh air and start thinking for himself, rather than continue to allow the institutions that finance his fieldwork to manipulate him.

Don’t get me wrong. I respect Stuart’s work and his dedication to it, and thank him for it. But enough is enough.
