Predicting the 2012 Presidential Elections

Predicting the 2012 Presidential Elections with Mayan Calendar Astrology

This series of articles examines the Mayan day signs of the front-runners for President in order to determine who is most likely to win, and who would do the best job in the White House. It is based on the Constellation, an extension of the Mayan cross, or Tree of Life, that reveals the influences of the nahuales of a person's Youth, Adulthood and Future. The related techniques are explained in Kenneth Johnson's recent book Mayan Calendar Astrology and my own work, The Mayan Calendar Users Guide. So far as I know, this is the first time Mayan astrology has been utilized to analyze a US Presidential election.

I'll focus on the Democratic party in this story. By next month, the Republic candidates will have consolidated, and I'll look at their candidates. When the Vice Presidential candidates are chosen, future installments will analyze the composite charts for each ticket after finding the combined day sign for the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates. Key debates, the primaries and other aspects of the race will also be considered.

The Democratic Party
Obama will certainly run again, and Joe Biden will be almost certainly be his running mate. Though Randall Terry has announced his candidacy, pundits say the only potential Democratic candidate with a serious chance for now is Hillary Clinton. (Terry's main day sign, 12 Water, means "to pay" -- not a good omen for the USA's future.)

Barak Obama: August 4, 1961
Obama's main day sign, in effect through life, is 9 Corn. His sudden rush to the top of the USA's political food chain in 2008 is explained by 9 Corn: the energy of Corn is positive and surging, the way a corn stalk climbs high after a heavy rain. Corn represents authority, for the corn stalk is the basic staff of the shaman. Corn natives are natural leaders who are influential in their community even if they do not hold office.

The coefficient 9 is just past the top of the "wave" of the 13-day trecena. Momentum is accelerating yet balanced. This helps Obama remain stable amid the turbulence of global and national politics. Ultimately, 9 Corn is one of the best of all 260 combinations of day signs for a President, or any office or position of authority. 8 or 9 Sun would be even better.

Obama's Future nahual, 4 Crocodile, will begin to fade in at 52 -- during his second year in office if re-elected. Instability and turbulence, the negative keywords for Crocodile, could rise to the surface and affect his decisions.

His Action nahual of the Future, 11 Eagle, influences his acts and how he approaches them Future. 11 Eagle says advancement and ambition, but is troubling, for 11 has been associated with problems and even chaos by the Maya in both Mexico and Guatemala.

Joe Biden: November 20, 1942
Biden's main sign is 2 Crocodile. The crocodile lurks beneath the surface to catch its prey, and some Crocodiles are cunning players in the insidious world of politics. It can also mean nourishing and creativity, but these do not seem evident in his past.

His Future nahual, already in effect for decades, is 10 Water. Water's key meaning is "to pay," though it can also refer to the emotions. The 10 makes it an intense influence on Biden. Either he will pay, or he will make others pay. This may even refer to paying karmic debts. Water can have a calming effect, but the coefficient of 10 suggests otherwise.

Biden's Action nahual of the Future, 4 Night, says that his most effective approach to taking action would be to look within for answers and to trust his intuition.

Correspondences Between Obama's and Biden's Charts
One way to gauge compatibility is by looking for nahuales that appear in both charts. Interestingly, Biden's nahual of Youth is 8 Corn, nearly the same as Obama's main sign, 9 Corn.

They also share Deer (support, balance, teamwork), Eagle (advancement, ambition) and Crocodile (nourishing, instability). Deer is a "guardian" for each, as it appears twice in their charts. Both are protected either by the energies of Deer, or by people of that sign. Perhaps Obama should choose a Deer as head of the Justice Department or Homeland Security.

Composite Chart for Obama-Biden
The composite day sign for Obama's 9 Corn and Biden's 2 Crocodile is 11 Jaguar. (For the basics of Mayan relationship charts, see www.mayancalendarusersguide.com.) Jaguars are warriors who rely on feminine energy (inner strength) and stealth.

11 Jaguar makes this ticket a formidable foe in the election. Jaguars won't back down. They will fight dirty, prefer to attack from the shadows' and can be underhanded. The 11 has negative connotations, which might explain why the Obama administration has not achieved the many changes he promised.

(The Vice Presidential candidate's main job, helping win the election, ends on November 6, 2012. For this reason, the composite chart is used only for the campaign, not their performance as a team in office.)

Hillary Clinton: October 26, 1947
A key meaning of her main day sign, 9 Wind, is "breath of life." As President, she would be able to breath life into the United States, which could have positive effects for the world. Again, 9 denotes strong and balanced energy, minimizing Wind's potential to be impulsive, indecisive or even fickle.

Her Future nahual, 4 Dog, is already in effect, endowing her with authority and the ability to lead the USA down its path of destiny. On the negative side, a Dog may turn lustful, which in this context could be interpreted as lust for power and its wanton use.

4 Net as her Action nahual of the Future means she can effectively make new friends, political allies and form associations, so would likely choose the right people for her cabinet and other positions.

Obama versus Clinton: Which Is More Likely to Win?
The following chart compares the day signs of each of their Adulthood and Future signs.

Candidate Adulthood Future
Obama 9 Corm 4 Crocodile
Clinton 9 Wind 4 Dog

Obama and Clinton are neck and neck in the numbers department during Adulthood. Her 4 Dog trumps his 4 Crocodile in their Futures; however, this is not pertinent to the election, as Obama's Future nahual does not take affect for two years. Obama's sign has a higher coefficient, and Corn is a stronger and more authoritative influence than Wind.

Which Would Make the Better President?
Comparing the Adulthood nahuales of Obama and Clinton makes it clear that Obama, 9 Corn, would be a strong President with the ability to lead the nation out of its many predicaments. If Clinton wins, her 9 Wind says she could breathe life into the USA.

Comparing the Future signs of Obama and Clinton, I see that her 4 Dog -- already in effect for eight years -- makes her a natural leader and responsible guide for the nation. In addition to leading the way as does Corn, Dog provides counsel and advice, far more so than Crocodile, Obama's Future sign. 4 Crocodile invites potential for instability beginning in 2014.

Conclusions
Their nahuales of Adulthood and Future show that Hillary Clinton would make a more effective President than Obama. Her 4 Dog is the key reason. 9 Wind, which means breathing life into things (hopefully the economy, for one), is another reason she could make a better President.

But Obama, a powerful and balanced 9 Corn, has a better chance of beating Clinton at the polls. The question is, will Clinton run? If she does, I'll take another look at Clinton and her potential choices for running mate to see which would make her best choice.

Republican Candidates
In the next story in this series, I will examine the leading Republican candidates and some potential tickets. It can be found at www.mayancalendarusersguide.com.

This is like the Bishops Egg...

Good in parts, but...

As the 'rulers' of today are all decided by the Oligarchy made up of the Elite of the World it matters little what their own ambitions are. Perhaps one should look at their ability to act out their part in the Theatre of the Absurd that is the world today.

Maybe the Tzolkin reading of the DAY of the Election and then the DAY the President is sworn in might give more insights.

Thank you for all the work that you have done. A pity that no matter who is elected will make no difference to the running of the country.

Candidates with U.S. Chart?

Hi Shay,

Here's an idea. Have you thought about comparing the candidates' day signs with the U.S.? Maybe even do composites? July 4 1776 was 9 Ben (Corn), hence Obama and the nation have the same nawal. I wonder how the various candidates match up with the chart for the whole country?

That makes perfect sense. And its means that the next logical

extension would be to use the Mayan day signs and composites to analyze international politics. Yet another application for the calendar. Have already done this for Lincoln and Booth, the Iraq-Afghanistan war, and other historical events.
