The 2012 Maya Meetings

The 2012 Maya Meetings: Beyond the Glyphs: Ancient Maya Inscriptions as Literature

The 2012 Maya Meetings will take place at Casa Herrera, UT-Austin’s academic and conference center for Mesoamerican studies. Casa Herrera is a beautifully restored 17th-century mansion located near the center of Antigua, Guatemala’s colonial capital. As an extension of the university’s Mesoamerica Center, the Casa Herrera focuses on the varied and inter-related disciplines that contribute to the study of Pre-Columbian art, archaeology, history and culture.

The Mesoamerica Center is excited to be able to take the Maya Meetings to the land of the Maya, to expand this spirit of learning and exchange. The 2012 Maya Meetings will offer a combination of learning workshops and Symposium. Workshops focusing on hieroglyphs will run for four days from March 12 through 14. Symposium will take place on March 15.
