Film or TV program
2012 The Movie
Provide a brief description of the film/program's story plot for our readers

The plot and story is only second rate and laughable. And it all the boring special effects that I have seen a thousand times before. Nothing original in this film.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program, as entertainment?

As entertainment it's probably ok as long as you don't take it seriously. As I said same old stuff again and again.
As for paying money to see it, don't waste your money.
And Sony could have put $280million to better use than attempting to fill the the public's minds with hysteria, lies and catastrophy about the meaning of 2012 just to profit from it.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program as a social and/or cultural message? Does it succeed or fail in this regard?

This movie sends an extremely negative social message to the public. It feeds them fear about 2012 which is the opposite to the true meaning held by the Mayans. So when the 21st December 2012 arrives and this insane story of scare mongering fails to happen. Alot of ill imformed people will say the Mayan Calender was a hoax and the Mayans will be discredited.
Yes this film seems to be designed to discredit the Mayans cultural message.

What impact do you feel the movie will likely have on the way people worldwide will perceive the Mayan Calendar?

This movie is intended make people afraid of 2012 and to fear the Mayan Calender. However it will be hard for movie companies to keep remaking apocalyptic movies about 2012 for profit over the next 3 years. Especially ones that will top this one as most people can still pick up dozens of movies now about the end of the world in their local DVD store.

Yes the impact of this movie will intially have alot of people perceive the Mayan Calender as something to fear or even dread. And it will also make alot of people disregard the Mayan Calender as fantasy initially. However that being said I believe alot of those people will be jolted into action to pursue the true meaning and research the Mayan Calender to discover the truth. This movie has been screened 3 years in advance of Mayan Calender end date. In my opinion if the film makers hoped to discredit the Mayans and their Calender it will backfire in the long run because as they say "any publicity is good publicty".

If you had the chance to remake this film/program, what would you do differently?

No, it is inevitable a commercial film like this would be made. It was bound to happen. It will be laughed at in time.

Would you recommend this film/program to your family, friends and colleagues? Why or why not?

No. Because that would be free advertising for Sony and help a huge multinational company profit from the middle class.

What would you like to say to the film's director, and/or the production studio?

Nothing really they are only doing what they know how. They are still trying to find their way in this world like the rest of us.

("2012" only) Roland Emmerich is allegedly planning a television series "post 2012". What do you think of this idea?

Exactly the same as above. What will be will be. I am not concerned.

Any other comments you'd like to add

This movie is just another example of the rich feeding off the poor. However, there is evidence the world is changing for the better already. Not that the commercial media wants us to believe it as the rich media companies always paint a bleak picture of the world in an attempt to keep us in fear. Because they haven't yet let go of the negative emotion called greed. And in a free world they perceive themselves as the ones who have the most to lose.
