Provide a brief description of the film/program's story plot for our readers

According to the "Mayan Calendar," the world will end in 2012 in an orgiastic apocalyptic armageddon of special effects.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program, as entertainment?

I was a bit concerned this film would misinform audiences about the Mayan calendar and it's meaning, but this movie is so bad, the special effects so predictable and dated, the acting awful, the story so stupid, that anyone discussing it will marvel over how terrible it is, how much money was spect to make it, and not what it is supposed to be about.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program as a social and/or cultural message? Does it succeed or fail in this regard?

Obviously, it fails on every level. It is so bad any sort of social/cultural message is overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of special effects and the terrible acting in front of green screens.

What impact do you feel the movie will likely have on the way people worldwide will perceive the Mayan Calendar?

I doubt it will have any impact, thank goodness, because it so awful, and how many people can afford to spend $10 or more to see a bad movie and sit there for 3 hours besides?

If you had the chance to remake this film/program, what would you do differently?

I wouldn't make it in the first place. The Mayan calendar comes to an "end" in the same sense our calendars "end" on December 31; it is not the end of the planet or our civilization, but the arrival at a point where human consciousness will hopefully achieve an advanced stage.

Would you recommend this film/program to your family, friends and colleagues? Why or why not?

Absolutely not. Please see above comments.

What would you like to say to the film's director, and/or the production studio?

This guy is obviously a hack and should not be allowed to waste such an enormous amount of money on garbage. Think of how many good or great smaller films could have been made instead.

("2012" only) Roland Emmerich is allegedly planning a television series "post 2012". What do you think of this idea?

Another waste of time and money. There are already lame docs on National Geographic and Discovery, why do we need this?
I doubt many people will watch it.

Any other comments you'd like to add

I think audiences are really over these giant disaster movies, and are looking for something that is truly inspiring, and/or intelligently funny and interesting and adds something to our lives, not wastes our time.
