It's not the end of the world, stupid!

We don't believe in the apocalypse.  We don't believe in doomsday prophecies.  And we especially don't believe in the boogeyman.

The Maya don't either.  They never did.  They're still shaking their heads down in Guatemala and the rest of Maya country in Central America, wondering what the rest of the world is going on about.  Some think it's a major guilt complex... we've nearly consumed our beautiful planet to death, so maybe, just maybe, we all feel a bit guilty about that?  Or is it the Judeo-Christian tradition of divine punishment meted out to lowly mortals?

Whatever the root cause, the fear about the "end of days" on December 21, 2012 is completely and utterly unfounded.  It's the winter solstice, the end of ONE cycle of the now-defunct Mayan Long Count calendar, and hopefully one day closer to a more equitable, peaceful, enlightened global society.

Anyway, in February 2012 we created a campaign called "It's not the end of the world, stupid."  That's the global-human-consciousness version of the famous "It's the economy, stupid" slogan from the US 1992 political election.

The core of the campaign is the cartoon you see above; the first half of the quote we wrote, and then ran a contest on our Facebook page asking people to come up with a witty and appropriate punchline.  Within a few days, we had our winner.  Sylvee, one of our fans, came up with the simple yet very witty play on words, "shift happens" — referring, of course, to the "shift" in global consciousness that many are expecting or at least hoping for.

We sent Sylvee a copy of one of our books, The Serpent and the Jaguar, as her prize.  Congrats Sylvee!!

But that's not the end, either of the world or this campaign.  Feel free to pull the cartoon off our web site, post it on yours, send to friends and loved ones, share/post it on your Facebook page, Tweet it, Pin it, Digg it, send it round the world.

And if you email us with a link to where you posted it, we'll publish your link right here on this page!
