How many in your family/community/group are living with the Mayan calendar?
Everybody! I feel the Mayan Calendar is a spiritual tool. I have been studying the Calendar for a couple of years and it has been a most useful guide for my own self-improvement.
How do you use the Mayan Calendar in your everyday life? Do you combine it with the Gregorian calendar?
I consult the Daily Tzolkin everyday and it has helped me to understand others and events in my life. I don't know how to combine it with the Gregorian Calendar. I am still trying to learn more about the Tun and I feel it is more closely related to the Gregorian Calendar in some ways. The Gregorian Calendar is used by a large majority of people and I consult it for communication purposes.
How has the Mayan Calendar influenced or changed your way of life or thinking?
Once I found out my name, Oxlahun Cauac, I have been able to understand my true purpose in life better. In that regard, the Mayan Calendar has been a strong influence in my life from my earliest memories. However, I have only recently (in the past few years) found out about the Mayan Calendar and been able to study it and communicate to others about it. It has been a very accurate tool to understand others in my life.
What challenges or difficulties have you encountered in integrating the Mayan Calendar into your daily life?
The mathematics of the Mayan Calendar have been very challenging and rewarding when I can make a breakthrough. The language is also challenging. The biggest difficulty is keeping my life simple enough to keep focused on the Mayan Calendar path.
What do you feel are the benefits of living with the Mayan Calendar?
My own self-improvement is very important to me. I have been able to make some major decisions using the tools of the Mayan Calendar. It has helped me communicate better so I would say it has helped benefit others indirectly. It has helped me focus on the positive aspects of a very complicated world.
Do you have a blog or a web site you’d like your story to link to?
Maybe later on. I have some things on the Internet, but I haven't kept them updated since I have a very complicated schedule and I try to keep myself open to studying more.
